I consider this tutorial for intermediate
to advanced level.
This tutorial uses selections
that I have made. Click on the link to download the zipped file of
the selections, then unzip into a separate folder. This zipped file
also contains two choices of fur patterns and santa hat tube.
To do this tutorial you will also
need Paint Shop Pro. I used Paint
Shop Pro 7.0 . You may download a free trial at Jasc.
This tutorial also uses Eyecandy
3.1 plugin--Jiggle.
1. To begin open up the
weave file in Paint Shop Pro. Click on flood
tool
(paint can). Click on foreground styles box, change to patterns,
and
choose one of the fur patterns, scale 100%, angle 0. Then minimize
the
fur pattrn. We will use it to fill the selections. Click on
the
background
styles box, and change the color to black, #000000
2. Open a new file, 400
by 400, 72 resolution, transparent background,
16.7
million colors.
3. Click on Selections,
load from disk. Look in the folder that you
saved
the selections to, and open up RDBbearlegs.sel Flood
the
selection
with the fur pattern.
4. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearfeet.sel
Flood the selection with the fur pattern.
5. Go to Selections, Invert.
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow. Change
to these
settings: Horizontal & Vertical=0, Opacity=80, Blur=20,
Color=#000000
(black). Click ok.
6. Go to Selections, invert.
Selections, Modify, Contract =20. ok
7. Go to Selections, Modify,
feather=5 ok
8. Go to Color, Adjust,
Brightness/Contrast. Set Brightness=25, Contrast=0.
Ok.
9. Now, Click on foreground
styles box, change to patterns, and change the
angle
to 60.
10. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearbody.sel Flood the selection with the fur pattern.
11. Go to Selections, Invert.
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow. Apply
same drop shadow settings as in #5. The settings should still be
there!
12. Go to Effects--Plugin--Eye
Candy 3.1--Jiggle. Change the settings to:
Bubble=10, Warp=5, Twist=90, Movement type=Brownian Motion. Click
the check.
13. Now, Click on foreground
styles box, change to patterns, and change the
angle back to 0.
14. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbeararms.sel Flood the selection with the fur pattern.
Go to
Selections, Invert. Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow.
Apply
same drop shadow settings as in #5. The settings should still be
there!
settings: Horizontal & Vertical=0, Opacity=80, Blur=20,
Color=#000000 (black). Click ok.
15. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearhands.sel Flood the selection with the fur pattern.
Go to
Selections, Invert. Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow.
Apply
same drop shadow settings as in #14. The settings should still be
there!
Go to Selections, invert. Selections, Modify, Contract =20.
ok. Go to
Selections, Modify, feather=5 ok. Go to Color, Adjust,
Brightness/Contrast. Set Brightness=25, Contrast=0. Ok.
16. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearears.sel Flood the selection with the fur pattern.
Go to
Selections, Invert. Go to Effects--Plugin--Eye Candy 3.1--Jiggle.
Use the
same settings as in Step #12.
17. Click on Selections,
Invert. elections, Modify, Contract =20. ok. Go to
Selections, Modify, feather=5 ok. Go to Color, Adjust,
Brightness/Contrast. Set Brightness=25, Contrast=0. Ok.
18. Change pattern angle
back to 60 (see step #9)
19. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearhead.sel Flood the selection with the fur pattern.
Go to
Selections, Invert. Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow.
Apply
same drop shadow settings as in #5. (settings: Horizontal & Vertical=0,
Opacity=80, Blur=20, Color=#000000 (black). Click ok.)The settings
should still be there! Go to Effects--Plugin--Eye Candy 3.1--Jiggle.
Use
the same settings as in Step #12. (Bubble=10, Warp=5, Twist=90,
Movement type=Brownian Motion.)
20. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbeareyes.sel Flood the selection with the black, #000000
(right-click) Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel. Choose
these
settings: Bevel=pie shape, width=14, smoothness=15, depth=12,
ambience=0, shininess=50, color = white (#FFFFFF), angle=315,
intensity=50, elevation=30
21. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearmuzzle.sel Flood the selection with the fur pattern.
Go to
Selections, Invert. Go to Effects--Plugin--Eye Candy 3.1--Jiggle.
Use the
same settings as in Step #12. Apply a drop shadow, like in Step #5,
EXCEPT change the blur to 10. ((settings: Horizontal &
Vertical=0,
Opacity=80, Blur=10, Color=#000000 (black).
Click ok.)
22. Add
a new raster layer. Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearnose.sel Flood the selection with the black, #000000
(right-click) Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel. Use the
same settings
for the eyes, Step #20. The settings should still be there!
(Bevel=pie
shape, width=14, smoothness=15, depth=12, ambience=0, shininess=50,
color = white (#FFFFFF), angle=315, intensity=50, elevation=30)
23. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearmouth.sel Flood the selection with the black,
#000000
(right-click) Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel. Use the
same settings
for the eyes, Step #22. The settings should still be there!
Now if you
just want to keep the blank, naked bear, then
go to layers,
merge, merge visible, and save the tube.
Otherwise,
continue on to make the Christmas bear.
24. Open santa hat tube.
Click Edit, Copy. Then click on window for your
bear. Click Edit, paste. Move the hat into position.
Selections, none.
25. In the Layers Pallette,
Click on layer 4 to make it active. Add a new layer.
26. Select selection tool
from the left menu and set to rectangle selection.
Click on middle of left paw, and drag out box to about middle of right
paw. See picture.
27. Click on foreground
styles box, change to patterns, and choose pine
pattern, scale 75%, angle 0. Flood fill the selection with this pattern.
28. Go to Inner Bevel:
Change settings to pie, 4, 15, 12, 0, 50, white
(#FFFFFF), 315, 50, 30.
29. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbeartext.sel Flood the selection with #FF4040
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel. Use the same settings
for the sign, Step #28. The settings should still be there! (Change
settings to pie, 4, 15, 12, 0, 50, white (#FFFFFF), 315, 50, 30.)
30. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearholly1.sel Flood the selection with the #226018
31. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearholly2.sel Flood the selection with the #226018
32. Add a new raster layer.
Click on Selections, load from disk,
RDBbearberry.sel Flood the selection with the #FF4040.
Apply the
same inner bevel selections that you used for the eyes. Change
back to
the settings in Step #20. (Bevel=pie shape, width=14,
smoothness=15,
depth=12, ambience=0, shininess=50, color = white (#FFFFFF),
angle=315, intensity=50, elevation=30) Deselect
33. Click on Layer 2.
Go to Layers--Arrange--Bring to Top.
34. Layers--Merge--Merge
Visible. And save. Resize and make
into a tube.
And there you have it! Your
own Merry Christmas Bear.
